Hi-Lift Mount for Jeep's
Home

I've had a few people ask my about my mounts for my Hi-Lift both when I had my old system and now with the improved version.
At first, I used fence clamps as seen here...
Yeah, I know it's a crappy shot, but I took the pic to show something else and it just happened to have the Hi-Lift in it.
My problem with the fence clamps was the size. I have an '03 TJ which has the thicker padding and couldn't get clamps big enough to work.
So, I had to straighten them out then form fit them around the roll bar with a hammer to make them work. It worked, but it was ugly,
interfered with my top, and was never as secure as I wanted.
So, I swapped them out for some 3" exhaust clamps.
They are the slightest bit smaller then the padding, so I had to give them a couple whacks with a hammer to disform the padding and make them fit.
Then I just cranked down on the nuts to get the padding to conform to the shape and get them tight.
I really wanted to keep the jack with the base on it, but not have problems with my top. So, I had to pivot whatever that top part of the jack is
(no clue what it's called, but it's obvious in the pics).
I had clearance issues with two of the bolts, so I just used my cut-off wheel to trim them down. A hacksaw or a Sawzall would work fine too, but I
was looking for an excuse to finally get some use out of my new air tools.
Now, if you mounted the jack down lower, it would be easier because you wouldn't have to deal with the padding issues and I don't think the interference
issues with the top would be there. With how I stow my trail gear and with my Raingler nets, that just wasn't possible.
Also, in the pics and in person the passenger side mount just looks like it's not holding the jack secure (at least to me anyway).
It's strong enough that you can shake it and not have it move. But, the way it looks just makes me
feel like it's not,
so I think I am going to drill another hole in the base and add a second mount just to make it look better.
